Pattern Review: SonofaCrossStitch - Pride Tattoo PDF Pattern</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am back with some instant gratification cross stitch. This simple pattern is from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SonOfACrossStitch?source=aw&awc=6091_1569836873_af5cbf195dfbd59cf87cae1c55e4b593&utm_source=affiliate_window&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=uk_location_buyer&utm_content=191353&utm_term=137027" target="_blank">SonofaCrossStitch</a> and is the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/449177920/pride-tattoo-pdf-cross-stitch-pattern?ref=yr_purchases" target="_blank">PDF Pride pattern</a>. </div>
<div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPTo0wBBDQe_EEj48A5PECnFxmSqbUQHgUHV90HuzZetqc9wQFcdgbnLnrc_s7JI6r2g9-p22kAD8BeRbCHqKG6kcapqUBcVpBUkcDIbaKIi1ocxgwxbhCLg3HS8FcozMl2ZAfBAEGbCQ/s1600/20190825_231108.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1458" data-original-width="1600" height="362" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPTo0wBBDQe_EEj48A5PECnFxmSqbUQHgUHV90HuzZetqc9wQFcdgbnLnrc_s7JI6r2g9-p22kAD8BeRbCHqKG6kcapqUBcVpBUkcDIbaKIi1ocxgwxbhCLg3HS8FcozMl2ZAfBAEGbCQ/s400/20190825_231108.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a really simple pattern that I bought as a stash buster. I had some 16 count aida purchased during a clearance sale and I used up some of my leftover threads from previous projects. The pattern does have suggested fabric and thread suggestions, should you wish to follow them. It is also available as a kit, which would make nice present. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTta2VAOLYd2_pIi4hculYZ8aDAD-VigKfwA292pDL6vl2WhWLhePkBRd-5tP8mIM02JKqn0MdwKXfb4FzVgohDJu-A7h8Pl_EwxWPVxko8wB6T-QWU5ENZ2bSpmIzwfouYAeITY2OpFs/s1600/20190929_142511.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTta2VAOLYd2_pIi4hculYZ8aDAD-VigKfwA292pDL6vl2WhWLhePkBRd-5tP8mIM02JKqn0MdwKXfb4FzVgohDJu-A7h8Pl_EwxWPVxko8wB6T-QWU5ENZ2bSpmIzwfouYAeITY2OpFs/s400/20190929_142511.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I have tried various finishing methods for my cross stitch, and decided on trying the felt backing method for a hoop, found in my Cross Stitcher Magazine. It is a neat method and prevents anything showing through from the back of the cross stitch project. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The was a really fun quick project and the PDF pattern is very affordable. I am planning on buying a couple more as they will be excellent travel projects as well as stash busters. </div>

Happy Stitching!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I had a remnant from my <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.com/2019/06/1969-jiffy-dress.html" target="_blank">recent make</a> and decided to go with a bit of instant gratification. The pattern is <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/patterns/45287" target="_blank">Kwik Sew 3844</a>.</div>

For anyone that hasn't seen my <a href="https://tashsews.blogspot.com/search/label/Kwik%20Sew%203844" target="_blank">previous versions of this pattern</a>, I cut out size medium and made no changes. This ITY knit, picked up from a previous work trip to Boston, is a really stable knit which made this a delight to sew. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am not fan of Kwik Sew patterns in general. I don't have anything against them, I am just not drawn to the designs. That said, this is potentially my most sewn TNT pattern ever! </div>

Pattern Review: Tree of Life by Textile Heritage</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have been busy in my sewing room these past couple of weeks, but here is a simple cross stitch project. I picked up this Textile Heritage cross stitch kit for a mere £1 from a Cancer Research UK charity shop. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have to admit that I stitched this in December 2017...! Once the stitching was finished it sat in a drawer waiting to be backed and finished. It was a bit of a faff as the ribbon that they supplied to back the bookmark was slightly too small. Whilst clearing out my cross stitch drawer this weekend I saw that I had collected all of the items (including some scrap card) to go inside the backing and decided to finish it! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD5Ko3-ngPgwbr-vwX1a7nTx78QrsbYEp3_SlzJqiRNLxSwzHli1r4lxIDebWf9QMmz1dv42_VuMSDThtf_Y4u8ocqG9iqUt_b5mt8yWVWt9FtwatR5VCKS1uPIwuRjH7HJVbvZpRUgCw/s1600/20190728_172950.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="907" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD5Ko3-ngPgwbr-vwX1a7nTx78QrsbYEp3_SlzJqiRNLxSwzHli1r4lxIDebWf9QMmz1dv42_VuMSDThtf_Y4u8ocqG9iqUt_b5mt8yWVWt9FtwatR5VCKS1uPIwuRjH7HJVbvZpRUgCw/s640/20190728_172950.jpg" width="361" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a very easy pattern and was a perfect project for travel. It's not the most exciting pattern to sew and personally I find Textile Heritage designs a bit traditional for my liking...but it was super quick and I ended up donating a small amount of money to charity in the process :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have recently finished another smallish cross stitch project so let's hope it doesn't take me a year and a half to get it framed!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyone else guilty of doing this with their stitching projects? </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My sewing group recently hosted a sew-a-long for the <a href="https://peppermintmag.com/sewing-school/jumpsuit/" target="_blank">jumpsuit from Peppermint Magazine.</a> I have never made a jumpsuit and the only one that I have in my closet is stretch playsuit that I only wear on the beach as a cover-up. I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try this FREE pattern!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRrSLu01-zxEkY7w9lTPCt-DNHnNZIt4XAG3S75dRd4WKHpOGuVZ1jV0zYLGniQOvKJhjVi-XjkpqqgEUTNeGrU1ktzVdKEYk-nD_pf9QlxtYQhmAG6H3Lv4WUNLew3-npH7AXKI3IoUc/s1600/Peppermint+Jumpsuit+Front2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1528" data-original-width="1075" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRrSLu01-zxEkY7w9lTPCt-DNHnNZIt4XAG3S75dRd4WKHpOGuVZ1jV0zYLGniQOvKJhjVi-XjkpqqgEUTNeGrU1ktzVdKEYk-nD_pf9QlxtYQhmAG6H3Lv4WUNLew3-npH7AXKI3IoUc/s640/Peppermint+Jumpsuit+Front2.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The fabric used is an African wax print that I purchased last November whilst on holiday in Uganda. It was very easy to work with and I loved the pattern. I was worried it might be a bit much in a jumpsuit, but I think that it is pretty fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSXHT-tN4CKxjQdivE3hYnhYaBvfKndM0Y-ufRUN3DgNC9oI7OQaYCqhxZ_NSqfO_bQ2wIXSfMouW6X5k0PnwIvolyNvz3dWb1nldmx6ZbaQ-h7xnCLVgbxru7bCpDVnDYxIFSxh6ODmg/s1600/Peppermint+Jumpsuit+Side+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1534" data-original-width="1069" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSXHT-tN4CKxjQdivE3hYnhYaBvfKndM0Y-ufRUN3DgNC9oI7OQaYCqhxZ_NSqfO_bQ2wIXSfMouW6X5k0PnwIvolyNvz3dWb1nldmx6ZbaQ-h7xnCLVgbxru7bCpDVnDYxIFSxh6ODmg/s640/Peppermint+Jumpsuit+Side+Front.jpg" width="444" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a really easy sew and I would definitely recommend it for beginners. The printing and cutting took almost as long as sewing up the actual pattern! It's worth noting that I treated this as a wearable muslin (so pleased as I did encounter fit issues) and finished the armholes and neckline with pre-purchased black bias binding. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8nCcRIywcWtPDQOqgutu6A1Z5GriKT-rOlVx0BGI9yYCDMzZUlh3pyED0Vjoo_FY9A_T5veaA4JX_mx6pstcxhSIgfVLWwzqd78eb_yH6py9MGHc1VyPNAe2hclCOCmH_nT1_0cZ-rJE/s1600/Peppermint+Jumpsuit+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1506" data-original-width="1072" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8nCcRIywcWtPDQOqgutu6A1Z5GriKT-rOlVx0BGI9yYCDMzZUlh3pyED0Vjoo_FY9A_T5veaA4JX_mx6pstcxhSIgfVLWwzqd78eb_yH6py9MGHc1VyPNAe2hclCOCmH_nT1_0cZ-rJE/s640/Peppermint+Jumpsuit+Back.jpg" width="452" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My measurements put me between an E-G (it is pretty standard to be across so many sizes when I factor in my hips). The fit along the sides worked well, but I found that the crotch curve was too small and when I bent over it went right into my butt crack! Sadly, it's not the most comfy jumpsuit to sit down in for exactly that reason. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The fit through the sides is perfect as it is loose fit jumpsuit. I was worried that it would be too sack like, but with the tie belt it provides a good amount of waist definition. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge6RWdLf-HbGWWwLtKED-4DPV-rZAsJDnKhmkYVAGpXmEBtz43LKyKjaxz_9O0RgMYBV-b23n0zlIGenebsyYnErjUm5x85T30b9wiqQbBsripUmN4MCrKKJ7lNVEuadfcpLvpNdrx6q8/s1600/Peppermint+Jumpsuit+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1515" data-original-width="1082" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge6RWdLf-HbGWWwLtKED-4DPV-rZAsJDnKhmkYVAGpXmEBtz43LKyKjaxz_9O0RgMYBV-b23n0zlIGenebsyYnErjUm5x85T30b9wiqQbBsripUmN4MCrKKJ7lNVEuadfcpLvpNdrx6q8/s640/Peppermint+Jumpsuit+Front.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am not happy with the fit issues, so sadly this went into the bag for the charity shop. I am not sure that I would make it again as I don't think the style is very me. That said, I am sure the fit issues would be easy to remedy and if I made trousers or jumpsuits often I am 100% sure I would have some routine adjustments that I wouldn't even have to think about. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Believe it or not this is my FIRST pdf pattern that I have tackled. I can't say that I love the taping process, but it was fun to try out such a fun pattern and with my sewing group for company!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have some more African print holiday fabrics on the sewing table so onwards and upwards!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyone else trying out something a tad different? </div>

Pattern Review: Simplicity 1059</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am out the other side of my huge work event that happened in May and have really been enjoying spending time with my sewing machine :-) I wanted some instant gratification and went with <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/73405" target="_blank">Simplicity 1059</a> which also happens to be on my <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.com/2019/02/2019-make-nine-plans.html" target="_blank">2019MakeNine </a>list. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I went for View B without sleeves (obviously). I cut a size 16 and made minimal changes except to take 3 inches off the hem and bring up the centre front of the bodice. The pattern indicates a very deep hem (2.5") but for instant gratification sake I overlocked the raw edge of the hem, turned it up and zig-zagged to finish.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3o0_kfQliaYZvHPlQUOii13wv7Ef2BKvwz6txFMof8vXD0TX7aUWAaDQNg3fUuB8y2JawSbUD0b0G92c0fECc-eUXF4NHAayW6u3Mqg-pHktWqNbqpObibZ7wL7CvHvP-oAW4UBzCPoA/s1600/Simplicity+1059+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1475" data-original-width="1084" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3o0_kfQliaYZvHPlQUOii13wv7Ef2BKvwz6txFMof8vXD0TX7aUWAaDQNg3fUuB8y2JawSbUD0b0G92c0fECc-eUXF4NHAayW6u3Mqg-pHktWqNbqpObibZ7wL7CvHvP-oAW4UBzCPoA/s640/Simplicity+1059+Front.jpg" width="470" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The fabric was bought years ago in during a work trip to Boston. It is an ITY print that is super comfy to wear. The fabric hides all the small details of the dress such as the shoulder pleats, As it is a stretch fabric I omitted the the centre back zip. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjunMda75tsINM29jp8O1YURR_ncTm-_mQyxdJ87JBjd4LkPIdUAZYlN7VPbV0ILRmsRmmiLigQozGxApgtMkvzQTc4SUGiRQXNv1163t1M_HF2oEREUGT3iBt6Ae8vJdD9GjLCNwCMbPo/s1600/Simplicity+1059+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1506" data-original-width="1016" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjunMda75tsINM29jp8O1YURR_ncTm-_mQyxdJ87JBjd4LkPIdUAZYlN7VPbV0ILRmsRmmiLigQozGxApgtMkvzQTc4SUGiRQXNv1163t1M_HF2oEREUGT3iBt6Ae8vJdD9GjLCNwCMbPo/s640/Simplicity+1059+Back.jpg" width="430" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a really simple pattern that took not time to sew up. The only thing that made me scratch my head was attaching the facing to the front. Every time I have to 'break the stitches' I can never quite work out how I can get the V to sit neat. I wore this dress with high heels to wedding reception and it has also gone into a firm rotation in my work wardrobe. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0XtKO4QGuYnBArlmz1LWlzhDCfzIZl8V-HDPj4u4wHXlz3_pPSljOZkLj0GroqbE7UuGxJBecfo6xISRA2UKtz8AHuVqpVFH_FmwqVsSEVoYe7Kyr_y82z0IJaD92ayrUQUPNd6WslbA/s1600/Simplicity+1059+Side+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1368" data-original-width="935" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0XtKO4QGuYnBArlmz1LWlzhDCfzIZl8V-HDPj4u4wHXlz3_pPSljOZkLj0GroqbE7UuGxJBecfo6xISRA2UKtz8AHuVqpVFH_FmwqVsSEVoYe7Kyr_y82z0IJaD92ayrUQUPNd6WslbA/s640/Simplicity+1059+Side+Front.jpg" width="436" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would definitely recommend this pattern for anyone wanting a quick pattern to sew up. It is loose fitting so no fitting required! I have a couple more stash busters on the sewing table. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Happy sewing!</div>

Pattern Review: Simplicity 1872 & Butterick 5744</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have finally got my sewjo back! It was the beginning of January when I posted my last garment. I started this dress back in 2018, but have only just finished it. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhgBltq0bfs-8IYrn8uAOs1Z9F3ScYoGhcBzIOm1zz_LXlBFq0FwCqep0bYfztH1j-WpHBi02A1CIvTbZTvFdpnHqeo1XLmtg5DJF6yKH9ODnbbg0vkKqm77Lrtyeyc0leOwwTzj9hEAg/s1600/Mustard+chiffon+dress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1399" data-original-width="990" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhgBltq0bfs-8IYrn8uAOs1Z9F3ScYoGhcBzIOm1zz_LXlBFq0FwCqep0bYfztH1j-WpHBi02A1CIvTbZTvFdpnHqeo1XLmtg5DJF6yKH9ODnbbg0vkKqm77Lrtyeyc0leOwwTzj9hEAg/s640/Mustard+chiffon+dress.jpg" width="452" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This dress is a frankenpattern of the bodice of Simplicity 1872 and the skirt from Butterick 5744, both are patterns that I have made previously. I wanted a simple silhouette and dress for this lovely floral printed chiffon. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG4QTSMOeQCC66Ob9QRLr2D00p3w6uAONwMWc-PZrtn-RemkYnJb18zWVPj48s0BpQszjLZ8ZDxo-SbZjgxfMHSGuFObRwUheoweMdYqZQOPt8oBy0xsuExdmq_nzFxUxG_Dzd9byabek/s1600/Mustard+chiffon+dress+back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1462" data-original-width="1069" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG4QTSMOeQCC66Ob9QRLr2D00p3w6uAONwMWc-PZrtn-RemkYnJb18zWVPj48s0BpQszjLZ8ZDxo-SbZjgxfMHSGuFObRwUheoweMdYqZQOPt8oBy0xsuExdmq_nzFxUxG_Dzd9byabek/s640/Mustard+chiffon+dress+back.jpg" width="466" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I initially decided to wear this dress with no elastic in the waist but it felt way too sack like for me, so I decided to pop in some elastic and it worked really well. A good amount of waist definition and yet the skirt is still floaty. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The chiffon fabric was a gift from Alex during her first visit to New York around three years ago, and not long after we met! It was pretty difficult to work with as it frayed like crazy but was worth it! I overlocked all of the edges and underlined it with a mustard orange lining from <a href="http://www.simplyfabrics.london/" target="_blank">Simply Fabric</a>s in Brixton. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY04tJfmrpxRJ1kAqxBkH9P4pjC3PBpVSJ5rt6LsaSPYv-NlqhyvinBov6avsSCXzka0BmqcY554XiLdAEO3FTBdjC6gktfvE5OmSNXprVymwfNvUi_8KZOpP2ySrWXWprCnlMEKJxCLo/s1600/Mustard+chiffon+dress+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1460" data-original-width="1074" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY04tJfmrpxRJ1kAqxBkH9P4pjC3PBpVSJ5rt6LsaSPYv-NlqhyvinBov6avsSCXzka0BmqcY554XiLdAEO3FTBdjC6gktfvE5OmSNXprVymwfNvUi_8KZOpP2ySrWXWprCnlMEKJxCLo/s640/Mustard+chiffon+dress+front.jpg" width="470" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was one of those fabrics that I felt really scared to cut into, and I had a bit of hesitation and worry during the project that it would not work out. I expect that this is partly why I was struggling to finish this project.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Work has been crazy, and there is no chance of it letting up until mid May, so I am just embracing the fact that my sewjo might not return until then!</div>
<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am so pleased that my sewjo is back and I have a new dress in my wardrobe. I also listened to the Love to Sew podcast on <a href="http://lovetosewpodcast.com/episodes/episode-87-how-to-get-your-sewjo-back/" target="_blank">How to Get Your Sewjo Back </a>which also reminded me that often the hardest thing is sitting down at your machine which for me was true.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have cut out another simple dress that fingers crossed I can finish before my work trip, however I am not putting any additional pressure on myself!</div>

Pattern Review: Summer in a Jar by Polka and Bloom</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For my birthday this year my parents bought be an introduction to embroidery course. It was a 3 hour introductory course at the <a href="https://thevillagehaberdashery.co.uk/" target="_blank">Village Haberdashery </a>in West Hampstead. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was a small course of 6 people and the course was 3 hours in total. All of the materials including the pattern were included in addition to tea, coffee and biscuits :-) The pattern that we worked on was a good sampler to try a variety of stitches. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMUXYzdimgI94fEvjdLRcCMHm1U7t5Hpw9BV0gZ6tCZCZWbDZqs0MN-Ppo3_7CgUkOrPsaxuVn4NXsTTjL_ez6q5DDmJVWlI_6so9kQ9AhvRV8MeWoE5PMDtdhx6WSwcxRLRgjJhYI1hpq/s1600/Embroidery.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1489" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMUXYzdimgI94fEvjdLRcCMHm1U7t5Hpw9BV0gZ6tCZCZWbDZqs0MN-Ppo3_7CgUkOrPsaxuVn4NXsTTjL_ez6q5DDmJVWlI_6so9kQ9AhvRV8MeWoE5PMDtdhx6WSwcxRLRgjJhYI1hpq/s400/Embroidery.jpg" width="371" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really enjoyed how quickly this project grew compared to cross stitch. It was a great portable project as you don't have to carry around a copy of the pattern as we drew it on the fabric with a water soluble pen. I ended up completing this on a work trip to Dubai.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgstrDXwpYJ1H465DxecXNKZgBu3i-J2cMb9sBSTeFPcKWhpHhKnkg9KYoDj41yQL1KUNL7bpaTi1DXeogwJEcYPicj7zxS9eEtkJWBYFmtc_sDCqip1QD2cN8PNFRluyc0_thvOvvCnn6p/s1600/Emboidery+stand.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1216" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgstrDXwpYJ1H465DxecXNKZgBu3i-J2cMb9sBSTeFPcKWhpHhKnkg9KYoDj41yQL1KUNL7bpaTi1DXeogwJEcYPicj7zxS9eEtkJWBYFmtc_sDCqip1QD2cN8PNFRluyc0_thvOvvCnn6p/s400/Emboidery+stand.jpg" width="302" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The class was taught by Carina Envoldsen-Harris. She was a great teacher who explained everything clearly. I purchased her book Mandalas to embroider as there are some great stash busting patterns for left over embroidery threads, so look our for some more embroidery projects!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div>
Work has been extremely busy so my sewing output has been minimal. However, picking up a small bit of stitching in the evening seems less tiring than sewing, so my embroidery and cross stitch output has really increased. Like I said, look out for some more stitching projects!</div>
</div>

I know it is almost March, but better late than never with my 2019 Make Nine Plans. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I thought that I should start with a recap on my 2018 Make Nine plans first. I completed 6 1/2 of my planned makes. It's currently at six and a half as I am currently midway through number 7!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvSY-LVnOI4zhWD-dq2Jv2jbhKLqQM1TLfaKBSYuASOh1ukAsX0o8T_cz8wBNjujpxYR7UovarmiAkQnvcvZ9IGV32PUt5gF3NG4vVszrsNsV2LzfolLtGFIEaSCZJt8PMpeoKFDrxrS0/s1600/McCalls+7084-COLLAGE.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvSY-LVnOI4zhWD-dq2Jv2jbhKLqQM1TLfaKBSYuASOh1ukAsX0o8T_cz8wBNjujpxYR7UovarmiAkQnvcvZ9IGV32PUt5gF3NG4vVszrsNsV2LzfolLtGFIEaSCZJt8PMpeoKFDrxrS0/s640/McCalls+7084-COLLAGE.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am really pleased with my progress. One of my two uncompleted makes was The Papercut Coppelia pattern, I just wasn't sure if the style was for me anymore. The other pattern was a TNT miniskirt, Simplicity 1370, for which I simply ran out of time in 2018. </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The reason I really liked the Make Nine challenge is that it made me focus my sewing for the year. all of these makes above are in frequent rotation in my wardrobe which is fab. Because of this, I decided to do the same for 2019!<br />

On my To Do List for 2019 is to tackle a PDF pattern. I have issue 57 of Love Sewing Magazine and liked this simple dress to add to my work wardrobe. If you don't have the magazine and have some sewing experience, this would be a simple enough pattern to try instruction free!<br />

2019 is also the year for trying some independent pattern companies. The majority of my patterns are from the Big 4 companies, as these are cheap and I often like the aesthetic and details that are included. I know that people complain about the ease, but I don't find this to be too much of an issue. However, I would like to ranch out. I have seen some lovely Yorkes on the internet and I have some denim that would be perfect for it!<br />

I really enjoyed sewing my coat, so thought about what other coat like items are missing from my wardrobe. It is definitely a short jacket. I am undecided about what type of fabric I will sew this with, but I wanted an item on my Make Nine list that would be a bit of a challenge. Watch this space!</div>

I hope that everyone is progressing well with their plans for 2019. I have had alot of work travel for the first part of the year and then I am organising a huge event taking place in May. This is why my list consists of so many simple dresses. I know that I will need to fill some holes in my wardrobe, but may not have time to fit in too much sewing. </div>
<br />
Anyone else a bit behind with their 2019 sewing plans? </div>

Pattern Review: Rose Cuttings by Dimensions</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Two years after making my first stitch I have finished this cross stitch project! This was a lovely Christmas present the family. It is the Rose Cuttings cross stitch kit by Dimensions, currently available on Amazon <a href="https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00122N4YO?pf_rd_p=338d5482-a910-4f62-b1e2-a66912b500ea&pf_rd_r=VZ6VF16HB9DM77NGZSJK" target="_blank">here</a>. </span></div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;">This is a relatively large design (<span style="background-color: white;">14" x 9"), but small enough for me to take it to my stitching group. The set comes with 14 count Aida which is a relatively large count for projects that I have been working on recently. The pattern was relatively easy to follow and there are no complex stitches, only full cross, half cross and backstitch are included.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><span style="background-color: white;">The kit came with plenty of thread and I think that the shading adds some lovely depth. The only thing that is annoying with so much shading in a project is that at times it feels like you are constantly changing colours. </span></span></div>

<span style="background-color: white; color: #444444; font-family: inherit;">I enjoyed stitching this and would recommend it for anyone past beginner stage that would like to take their stitching to the next level and work on a larger project. It is quite a 'classic' image which will not be to everyone's taste, but I enjoyed seeing the flowers come together :-)</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white;">I am currently working on another Dimensions kit, but one much smaller. My aim is to finish it by the end of the first half of the year as I have quite a cross stitch stash! After the smaller Dimensions kit I am hoping to start a cushion cover in order to give my partner a break from cross stitch being on the walls. As we all know that cross stitch on the sofa is much more acceptable...?</span></span></div>

Pattern Review: McCalls 7058</h2>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Long time no see! I started this coat back in August and have been chipping away at it for several months. I am finally finished and very pleased with the result!<br />
<br />
Initially <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/76096">Butterick 6292</a> featured as part of my <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.com/2018/02/2018-make-nine.html">#2018MakeNine</a> goals, but I wanted some more sleeve shaping an opted for <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/review/pattern/121228">McCalls 7058</a>. I went for the short coat length as I already have a long ready to wear coat that still has some wear it in yet! This length is perfect for when it is too cold for a light jacket but not cold enough for a full winter coat. </div>
</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was drawn to a princess seam coat as I find princess seams easy to fit and grade between sizes. Speaking of, I cut a 16 on the bust and waist and graded out to an 18 on the hips. I took in an inch on the middle of the back seams to take out some of the excess roominess. I also took in the shoulder seams around one and half inches as the sleeves sat too wide for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqegUpcwum5ZNYH4S38zPpJP7lCM-lnQsNlLWa0NFbazYhuV-k9uEnmebuZi7foWU5n1cLfVfHQlLlRrIiHoBBS0OosS9iQjcZt0IHrDfbXAJIH65BsKKD14HATi9QsmL0Al-QeB5Qs2E/s1600/McCalls+7058+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqegUpcwum5ZNYH4S38zPpJP7lCM-lnQsNlLWa0NFbazYhuV-k9uEnmebuZi7foWU5n1cLfVfHQlLlRrIiHoBBS0OosS9iQjcZt0IHrDfbXAJIH65BsKKD14HATi9QsmL0Al-QeB5Qs2E/s640/McCalls+7058+Back.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The wool was purchased around 2 years ago during a Goldhawk Road fabric shop with my sewing group. It was £20 per metre and I purchased 3. It was easy to sew and cut, but pressing was a nightmare. Luckily, my Dad kindly made me a clapper and dropped it in during a trip to London. It was a huge lifesaver and made sewing this coat so much easier. Overall, I would say that I spent the majority of my time sewing my coat at the ironing board. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEzMS70nTyjuqWlKFOQ9blLBAPilDIkL03XB0qfIMf3F8ui3-B1q4-Aiof7wrd4sYyjs0iIqw-pm1yK40aHWtbqTrjGGiMzJf_FAippFG5EfSg8TQ8yyDRGi4LDAj3LQfw-3aaW6Kb-5M/s1600/McCalls+7058+Side+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEzMS70nTyjuqWlKFOQ9blLBAPilDIkL03XB0qfIMf3F8ui3-B1q4-Aiof7wrd4sYyjs0iIqw-pm1yK40aHWtbqTrjGGiMzJf_FAippFG5EfSg8TQ8yyDRGi4LDAj3LQfw-3aaW6Kb-5M/s640/McCalls+7058+Side+Front.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In addition to the dart in the sleeve, the other feature that I loved about this coat is the hood. This is super practical for getting round a sometimes rainy London. My full length coat doesn't have a hood and I really miss always having to use an umbrella when it is raining. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
The main achievement (for which I cannot take credit for) are the self covered buttons. After looking for a while for potential buttons I couldn't find any that I liked. In the end I decided to go for self covered buttons. My partner Alex on a local walk stopped into the <a href="https://thevillagehaberdashery.co.uk/">Village Haberdashery </a>in West Hampstead and picked up some 38mm self-covering buttons as a present for me!<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They look fab, but due to the thickness of the wool they were a nightmare to get the two button parts to stay together. After many weird and wonderful ways of trying to cover the buttons (standing on books was one of them!), Alex ingeniously used pliers to loosen the teeth to allow more wool to fit into the back of the button. The buttons were a mission, but it was definitely worth it!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Due to the large size of the buttons I had to sew all of the buttonholes vertically (the pattern has you sew the first buttonhole horizontally), and decided to leave off the top buttonhole completely as there is too much bulk to sew vertically as the top of the coat. Three buttons is plenty for me as I always wear a scarf with a coat, even a light jacket. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My only dislike on this coat is the in seam pockets on the sides. They add a huge amount of bulk to my hips, which is generally not an area I feel overly comfortable drawing attention to. That said, it serves me right not have sewn the pockets when making my muslin. However, I still LOVE this coat! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The lining is a black satin lining purchased from John Lewis at £13.50 per metre. It is the most expensive lining I have purchased, but is so soft and feel very luxurious. Most importantly it makes getting the coat on and off a breeze. It will be hard to use any other lining for future sewing projects now. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioRnQGizIpIiomBxBtJspums3QrtnOt6mkzCgIDm5Y4i0oNYDYnl4Y0AfPjBOKakpjeje4rzv0f4AQLPze-pe6q-hWMTuDIflKW4HH9MWWeKAqbLRhgZ5EU2BgkPhPjPy0G26ZMV09BoU/s1600/McCalls+7058+Inside+.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioRnQGizIpIiomBxBtJspums3QrtnOt6mkzCgIDm5Y4i0oNYDYnl4Y0AfPjBOKakpjeje4rzv0f4AQLPze-pe6q-hWMTuDIflKW4HH9MWWeKAqbLRhgZ5EU2BgkPhPjPy0G26ZMV09BoU/s640/McCalls+7058+Inside+.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was a relatively simple coat, and one that I would say would be suitable for beginners that would like to tackle a coat. The hood option is a simple view that doesn't include sewing a collar which is a bonus. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was a challenging sew for me in terms of conquering sewing fear. Lots of us can relate to that feeling that we all have of being scared of ruining expensive fabric, committing lots of time and energy to something that might not turn out how we want it to, or not getting over the last hurdle (for me this is generally buttonholes). </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For some reason, I found that this project also demanded alot more focus, i.e. that I needed to set aside a few hours, rather than 10, 20 or 30 minutes here and there, which is how I sew around 50% of the time. I started this coat back in September and only finished it just before the New Year. I enjoyed doing some slow sewing and am looking forward to a challenging sew again in 2019!</div>

I have been doing some slooooowwwww sewing whilst working on </span><a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/68915" style="text-align: justify;">McCalls 7058</a><span style="text-align: justify;">. I have really enjoyed the process of making a coat, from muslin to the hand-sewn tailored buttonholes I am currently practising. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hopefully I will be back soon, but in the meantime I will get back to my buttonholes (they definitely need some practise). As a parting shot here is a picture of some handmade tailors clappers that were kindly made by my dad! They have been invaluable for this coat :-)</div>

Pattern Review: Simplicity 6413</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I pulled out a black knit fabric when I initially was looking at fabric for the #MakeYourStash challenge. I had the idea for simple cardigan or wrap top, but I didn't have any patterns that I felt would work best. In the end I went with <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/75951">Simplicity 6413</a> which has also been in my stash for a while!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8gFn8-hxa3xZ9gi0I6udh5XCnS9lLRYmUDsxwFh29up2k1eMXbu_sLC2lOy8aL8t3zHaZZjgY7VgcI0rptuHFKovUP-cgIsy2NZTRgoIII_0AE4mKSPBrdg1A83pp6AzqVcZATFeozEY/s1600/New+Look+6413+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="978" data-original-width="687" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8gFn8-hxa3xZ9gi0I6udh5XCnS9lLRYmUDsxwFh29up2k1eMXbu_sLC2lOy8aL8t3zHaZZjgY7VgcI0rptuHFKovUP-cgIsy2NZTRgoIII_0AE4mKSPBrdg1A83pp6AzqVcZATFeozEY/s640/New+Look+6413+Front.jpg" width="448" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hilariously, you can't see any of the details of the fabric in these pictures - so I won't bore you all with too many. It was essentially a diamond textural print which was pretty was sheer, almost like lace. I am pretty sure that I picked it up from Goldhawk Road years ago. I underlined the fabric with some black stretch lining from my stash. In hindsight I wish I had underlined it with a contrast colour. You live and learn. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div>
I cut a size 14 all over. I cut the front on the fold and forgot to take away the additional fabric that would form part of the centre front seam. Therefore the neckline and shoulders are a bit wide for my liking. Again, you live and learn right? </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1lkbGOloSTW_Esc7unvmXwqM14oojr4WLfHXmSS8PAMgmXDWsscJYsDQNg-K7icfdpTmBndpvXWG14u3X9PzId0OSj_QLJ6JoqZ2kym_YnaEeemLdhWZhie_tghBAj99hBa9LDvTvK-Q/s1600/New+Look+6413+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1lkbGOloSTW_Esc7unvmXwqM14oojr4WLfHXmSS8PAMgmXDWsscJYsDQNg-K7icfdpTmBndpvXWG14u3X9PzId0OSj_QLJ6JoqZ2kym_YnaEeemLdhWZhie_tghBAj99hBa9LDvTvK-Q/s640/New+Look+6413+Back.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a quick and easy sew. I have an ITY knit in my stash that I am considering trying for the jumpsuit! The sleeves are a fun feature of the dress and make it a bit different. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I finished this dress I really wasn't fussed about it (I think it it is due the sleeves!), but styled for work I think that it could be a good staple. However, I am undecided if I need to take in the neckline. If I have not worn it by the end of the month I have decided to pop it into the repair pile. </div>

Pattern Review: Simplicity 8216</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I first tried this pattern <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.com/2018/04/tie-bow-blouse.html" target="_blank">a couple of months</a> ago I said that I wanted to make it up in a dress. Fast forward a couple of months and here we have it!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8R_VPLUUxA9kpjGoMnb0rz20Q73Hnzb_MAEVM7H2uNQdz-l81Xhghn5VVaZQBKMtHZRQYYaHXO6RM7C95pivy5eogfwAdRqIflC5SfrRVjXqh1UpHp8WDBL_jS9SAq0-I7aZlfO1KOn4/s1600/Simplicity+8216+Dress+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="961" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8R_VPLUUxA9kpjGoMnb0rz20Q73Hnzb_MAEVM7H2uNQdz-l81Xhghn5VVaZQBKMtHZRQYYaHXO6RM7C95pivy5eogfwAdRqIflC5SfrRVjXqh1UpHp8WDBL_jS9SAq0-I7aZlfO1KOn4/s640/Simplicity+8216+Dress+Front.jpg" width="384" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Construction wise I did nothing differently from last time. I cut a size 14 all over. The only thing that I would be wary of is the fact that this really is a mini dress! For me it is fine with tights, but a too short to wear bare legged. For those thinking about making the dress I would definitely bear this in mind (FYI - I am 5ft 8" so a couple inches taller than average). </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinBR58RHqeN1P4pJlKDNQRVaJViPPlefyt6ga4HcNWXrLOs-lQryuZqzKuXHJ-AU7UHBjG03NJJVMsDVRe5-p5smyusCe46F1OF2sBxxN8wBEd_d5R_gVaSLywOOAdso9zJxzQcUDrWDc/s1600/Simplicity+8216+Dress+Side+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="958" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinBR58RHqeN1P4pJlKDNQRVaJViPPlefyt6ga4HcNWXrLOs-lQryuZqzKuXHJ-AU7UHBjG03NJJVMsDVRe5-p5smyusCe46F1OF2sBxxN8wBEd_d5R_gVaSLywOOAdso9zJxzQcUDrWDc/s640/Simplicity+8216+Dress+Side+Front.jpg" width="382" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
When I first finished the dress, I felt that there was too much blouson happening in the back, but viewing the pictures it is fine. It is super comfy to wear and a great work dress. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The fabric is a polyester that I picked up in the John Lewis sale earlier this year. It was reduced from £14 per metre too £7 per metre which is a bargain. I really love the print of the fabric and how the birds look like they are all flying in random directions. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The fabric frayed like crazy so I finished all of the seams on my overlocker. I finished the armholes with shop bought bias binding from my stash. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I can definitely see this becoming a work staple! I styled it with a cardigan for the office. I have work shoes, but these photos were taken at my sewing group, which is a 40 minute walk from the office. It's a lovely walk across the Thames, so I pop on my Vans for the exercise!</div>

Pattern Review: Simplicity 8221</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I snapped up quite a few Mimi G patterns back last year during a Simplicity sale and <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/review/pattern/139042" target="_blank">Simplicity 8221</a> has been in my stash waiting for the right fabric. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The fabric used was a stretch linen look denim picked up from John Lewis during the sale for £7 per metre. It cut and sewed so beautifully, that I it did make me remember how easy it is to work with wovens sometimes. Especially after my last chiffon dress <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.com/2018/08/butterfly-dress.html" target="_blank">here</a>!</div>

I cut a size 16, and I think that it fits pretty well out of the envelope. You can see in the photo below that for next time it would be worth doing a swayback adjustment to get rid of the pooling. The line drawings of the pattern show that there there are fish eye darts in the back. However, there isn't a huge amount of shaping, which I think is why a tie belt has been included. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To tell you the truth, I fell out of love whilst making this dress as I thought that I had made it too small on the hips. I had the right bit of ease at the waist, but I was kicking myself for not grading up to an 18 on the hips. In the end I just decided to plough on and give the finished dress to the charity shop. However, when I tried this on once the side seams were sewed up it fit perfectly! I was saved by the stretch denim!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In addition to the sizing, for some reason I found sewing the placket for the buttons really hard. I think that it is due to the bulk of the fabirc (despite it not actually being that thick for a denim). I also found that the double collar, which is a cool design feature, added bulk too. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although I love a shirtdress, this silhouette feels more body con than I am used too. At first I felt really self conscious when wearing it, but I think that I just need to be brave as everyone that has seen it has commented on how slimming it is. I am pleased that I pursued with this one as it is fun shirtdress for my wardrobe! I like it when something that you think is a failure surprises you. </div>

I feel like I have initially been really excited by a few of the patterns that I have cut out, only to fall out of love with them whilst sewing them up. I hope that this changes in September! </div>

Pattern Review: New Look 6123 & McCalls 3341</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have been wanting a simple v neck dress with an a-line skirt. I looked at purchasing a pattern, but relaised that I pretty much had all of the elements that I wanted in my existing pattern stash. I decided on combining the bodice <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/54303" target="_blank">New Look 6123</a> and skirt pattern <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/patterns/3303" target="_blank">McCalls 3341</a>.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was lucky as everything lined up really well in terms of the darts. I didn't have to move anything which was a huge bonus! The only thing I changed was to make the bodice a V-neck as I am not a huge fan of a round neck. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsZyUdLyjuTD-0Gjv90_PqOZHiAihz3Mr627LAt1b_LCwRqs-kk_zdhvFnHgvDpuOYJ007AUJDEgmYx6IjfaK6CmVU99HK87ggBIINTdH0fzt3bL5aV2P57okEjkIWNgiQBRaGldz3mgw/s1600/Mccalls+and+New+Look+dress+back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="952" data-original-width="735" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsZyUdLyjuTD-0Gjv90_PqOZHiAihz3Mr627LAt1b_LCwRqs-kk_zdhvFnHgvDpuOYJ007AUJDEgmYx6IjfaK6CmVU99HK87ggBIINTdH0fzt3bL5aV2P57okEjkIWNgiQBRaGldz3mgw/s640/Mccalls+and+New+Look+dress+back.jpg" width="494" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The main issue I had with this dress was the fabric. Working with chiffon is not the easiest and this was a polyester chiffon that frayed like anything. I finished all of the seams on my overlocker. This pretty butterfly fabric was super cheap fabric and picked up from one of the fabric shops along Goldhawk Road. If I remember correctly is was only £3 per metre. <span style="text-align: left;">I lined the bodice with some stretch blue lining from my stash. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinZMk7CmWshT7KsjQrXPUnKFSen2dXHHKipaodpGOMvzCXFIMTFgBEg_-EnuK6ZyikCcFJfKjO3yvGrraVz_BVuFtXr8wx9rXPAMhzEjbctK2l4HOBkrbhoCRPjU7_AsEj6AA-UOJXV9U/s1600/Mccalls+and+New+Look+dress+side.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="731" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinZMk7CmWshT7KsjQrXPUnKFSen2dXHHKipaodpGOMvzCXFIMTFgBEg_-EnuK6ZyikCcFJfKjO3yvGrraVz_BVuFtXr8wx9rXPAMhzEjbctK2l4HOBkrbhoCRPjU7_AsEj6AA-UOJXV9U/s640/Mccalls+and+New+Look+dress+side.jpg" width="466" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">I took my time sewing this dress and I was really pleased with the final fit. However, when trimming some seams I accidentally snipped through the back bodice. I patched it up with some wonderweb, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be holding up. My general feeling is that the fabric is just too fragile to hold up in the long term. I feel a bit sad about it, as I really like the dress, but some things are just not destined to last. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sewing this dress gave me so much more confidence sewing with chiffon and I love the fit of this dress. I am planning on using this pattern combination for an Autumn version made from linen. I am also happy that this is another fabric used that has been in my stash for years. This garment is another one from the #makeyourstash legacy! </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
There are a few items cut out on my sewing table that are also from the #makeyourstash legacy. It makes me feel better that I may have purchased some fabric whilst in John Lewis during the summer sales...</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Happy Sewing!</div>

Pattern Review: Cross Stitcher Bird Needle Case, May 2018</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My PC is broken so I haven't been able to blog too much at the moment. In the meantime, here are a few snaps of my latest finished cross stitch project. This is a needle case from the May 2018 edition of Cross Stitcher Magazine. It was a free mini kit that came with the magazine.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have no idea why it took me over 2 years to finish. I started it and then popped it away in my bedside table where it languished. Two weekends ago, I decided I had too many cross stitch UFOs and completed this whilst watching Saturday Kitchen.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I trimmed my felt too much, so you can see the stitching from the front. However, it is still 100% functional and I now have somewhere that I can store my cross stitch needles. A collection from my cross stitch kits had been building up in my pin cushion, so it's great that they have a home now. </div>

Pattern Review: Butterick 5432</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Can you believe that I have never made pajamas! Other than my failed nightgown <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.com/2015/08/august-garment-of-month.html" target="_blank">here</a> this is the only other time that I have tried nightwear. It's pretty shocking considering pajamas are such a beginner pattern. <a href="https://butterick.mccall.com/b5432" target="_blank">Butterick 5432</a> is a great value pattern as it contains so many different options. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTPRZxIMzyABbeRd_k1QTrtb_npcjLsCgKa6hBk3IwqEfB4ntDZWIm5RbLrubDIRf8eg9Nz_WoudXHIJkGR-M1Io_2SbZa7I52KQylzxYiXEvV88bhwd9zaW8hG8RnOsC3y87YhPon7Us/s1600/Butterick+5432+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1017" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTPRZxIMzyABbeRd_k1QTrtb_npcjLsCgKa6hBk3IwqEfB4ntDZWIm5RbLrubDIRf8eg9Nz_WoudXHIJkGR-M1Io_2SbZa7I52KQylzxYiXEvV88bhwd9zaW8hG8RnOsC3y87YhPon7Us/s640/Butterick+5432+Front.jpg" width="406" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
These pajamas are a part of the <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.com/search?q=%23makeyourstash" target="_blank">#makeyourstash</a> legacy. This fabric has been in my stash for at least 5 years! It is a soft cotton t-shirt fabric. I can't even remember where I purchased this, but it was easy to sew and the softness made it perfect for a pajama pattern!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrX9XaZl2oWDDCaM7ag7Qnmth02NUieQLA1eu6_cmfGb70wfGq0OcVdFNJMmT2qqTVedEi1xtAkQX_3WzglQ2YBG-MWvoyd2oKsWWyln8-eDiLK-qP4uw1XnnzlK4iiijVDALpdKWJgRo/s1600/Butterick+5432+Side.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1555" data-original-width="1046" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrX9XaZl2oWDDCaM7ag7Qnmth02NUieQLA1eu6_cmfGb70wfGq0OcVdFNJMmT2qqTVedEi1xtAkQX_3WzglQ2YBG-MWvoyd2oKsWWyln8-eDiLK-qP4uw1XnnzlK4iiijVDALpdKWJgRo/s640/Butterick+5432+Side.jpg" width="430" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
In regards to the pattern I cut a size medium for the top and shorts. For the shorts I added on an inch to the length as I suspected that they may be a bit scandalous without it. I also graded in an inch to the top of the back pieces to account for my larger derriere. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
For the top I sewed this straight out to the envelope with no alterations and it does need a couple of tweaks. There is a bit of excess fabric above the bust to the shoulder and it does need a swayback adjustment. Interestingly, the instructions suggest a narrow hem is used to finish the armholes on the neckline and armholes. For other views, the instructions suggest using binding, but not for the vest. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH_JrdKZV_PUwC1BdT_vTg6rbx4PmG7mliWr-G2XB00oHMnKEHvpFm1sG54tmUQiHAEIqrRZ9KxlrSZXsRa5wbqFi_cXT-5roOgm1UKj69Jqo_WKeSOZiHjBee-tn9l32hSVEip70lI3Q/s1600/Butterick+5432+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1000" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH_JrdKZV_PUwC1BdT_vTg6rbx4PmG7mliWr-G2XB00oHMnKEHvpFm1sG54tmUQiHAEIqrRZ9KxlrSZXsRa5wbqFi_cXT-5roOgm1UKj69Jqo_WKeSOZiHjBee-tn9l32hSVEip70lI3Q/s640/Butterick+5432+Back.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Despite the vest needing some alterations, I am so pleased that this stash fabric has been put to good use! I rarely wear pajamas to bed (I prefer a nightie as I get so warm), but these are more to lounge around the house and also to wear on holiday. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The shorts are so comfortable and practical that I will definitely make a second iteration! The fact that I look like a prison convict is an additional bonus for me!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

June has been a surprisingly busy month for me, so I am really pleased that I managed to finish this simple project. I have a dress that I cut out on my sewing table from a fabric that has been in my stash for at least 3 years!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyone else experiencing 'legacy' projects from the #makeyourstash challenge? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am loving how it has made me re-evaluate my long time stash fabrics!</div>

Pattern Review: Vogue 9251</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As the #makeyourstash challenge has been happening this May, I cut out a couple of long time stash fabrics to try some new patterns. The first one was <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/84928" target="_blank">Vogue 9251</a>. This dress ticks 2 boxes as not only is it a <a href="http://timetosew.uk/introducing-makeyourstash/" target="_blank">#makeyourstash </a>dress, but also my 5th <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2018/02/2018-make-nine.html" target="_blank">#2018MakeNine</a> garment. The fabric was purchased at The Great British Sewing Bee Live, which took place in September at the Excel in London. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIiYFwNNsoDIRfLcJA6uyU2ym3yjZxDL6XpknrsGKBsw8lNbchGhiZ1MIYiakxjTX4d-75GsH5BQnn_eU0xuJqo_0VIL3xQJ_wfhKqMk-4i1QhuatmY4TBRALmlOmPJ1F4uiTeh_uCqm8/s1600/Vogue+9251+Front+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="991" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIiYFwNNsoDIRfLcJA6uyU2ym3yjZxDL6XpknrsGKBsw8lNbchGhiZ1MIYiakxjTX4d-75GsH5BQnn_eU0xuJqo_0VIL3xQJ_wfhKqMk-4i1QhuatmY4TBRALmlOmPJ1F4uiTeh_uCqm8/s640/Vogue+9251+Front+2.jpg" width="396" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I was pretty restrained, and only picked up one piece of fabric - this floral polycotton priced at £5 for the whole lot. I was drawn to the floral print, but I hesitated when deciding what to make with it as the flowers are very directional. Whilst snooping my stash I thought that it would be perfect for a muslin for this woven wrap dress!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Despite some niggles with the bodice (listed below), I really love the style of this garment. It is flattering for my pear shape, is easy to dress up and down and fits with so many of my other wardrobe accessories. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">It was pretty windy when this was photographed...</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Fit wise, I cut a size 16 and graded in 1" fabric to the top of the front bodice pieces for modesty. If I make this again (which I expect I will) I will definitely increase this. It is absolutely fine for my social life, but not work appropriate. I had read previous reviews regarding the exposure factor so I am not 100% surprised. I also should not have been so lazy and probably cut a size 14 and done a full bust adjustment. That said, I never learn, so I am pretty happy with the fit of the front bodice. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The back bodice was a little more challenging. I had cut the back on the selvage to save fabric which turned out to be perfect as I had to take in a whopping 2" in the top of the centre back! Taking in the centre back seam is a common adjustment for me, but even I was surprised at how much was required. There is still a little excess fabric there, but not nearly as bad as when I first tested the fit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkqX9iWLxW2A2ijjFYVpij9xCAQeoEB7sIIKfiY-IGTXNEwww35C34Ksk-NeCdTTOQobzqHbQneBR2pCvo5n4q3GZemjksHlh2nlsyYlK1sYXrU57tqTGwk4dCx8gWGAvYfYoHL2sDVKc/s1600/Vogue+9251+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1001" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkqX9iWLxW2A2ijjFYVpij9xCAQeoEB7sIIKfiY-IGTXNEwww35C34Ksk-NeCdTTOQobzqHbQneBR2pCvo5n4q3GZemjksHlh2nlsyYlK1sYXrU57tqTGwk4dCx8gWGAvYfYoHL2sDVKc/s640/Vogue+9251+Back.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I really struggled to cut out my pieces with the amount of fabric I had, so the left bodice is actually pieced together with a seam down the centre front of the fabric. However, as the print is busy and the right bodice covers the majority of the seam it is barely noticeable. Once I had pressed and cut out the paper pattern I was determined be able to use this fabric for this dress!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The actual instructions are super easy and if the fit is right, this comes together easily. Technicality wise, this is definitely a Very Easy Vogue. I finished the seams on my overlocker, but if I was sewing this pattern with special fabric or for a fancy occasion I would almost certainly french seam the dress. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV27ETRZ0tXndgO-3y2-tWFS98FyJqKTB8b6xXuTy5n0TYqVSAa9kqW3LVDWGhccbkbS-_CbDTYV6qjl-kwLRQ9WDEiW9vnBMcZbuz6uzABJa6qg130-c4KAFkdWxVSjQn3j3kjGfNh7I/s1600/Vogue+9251+Side+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="973" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV27ETRZ0tXndgO-3y2-tWFS98FyJqKTB8b6xXuTy5n0TYqVSAa9kqW3LVDWGhccbkbS-_CbDTYV6qjl-kwLRQ9WDEiW9vnBMcZbuz6uzABJa6qg130-c4KAFkdWxVSjQn3j3kjGfNh7I/s640/Vogue+9251+Side+Front.jpg" width="388" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
One thing that I would change for next time are the inside ties. It is suggested that you use binding for the ties, but I feel that this adds a little bit of bulk. If I have enough fashion fabric I would use that, or even a small button and fabric loop/elastic. That said absolutely love this wearable muslin. I wore this out all day Sunday in London and to a friend's 30th birthday and it was super comfortable, cool (considering London was insanely humid that day) and also felt chic and feminine. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would tweak the bodice, but I would definitely make this again. It's great to have a woven wrap dress in the mix, especially as this has a different silhouette to the <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/wrap%20dress" target="_blank">others</a>. </div>

I have another simple dress on the sewing table, the fabric has been in my stash for 4 years!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyone else used some long term stash fabrics recently? And if so, didn't you feel great for it!?</div>

Pattern Review: McCall's 7084 </h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This dress has been a slow burner and feels like it has taken me ages to finish. <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/69501" target="_blank">McCall's 7084</a> is my 4th <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2018/02/2018-make-nine.html" target="_blank">#2018MakeNine</a> garment. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXF280WU2Xk_0s6PYgof5Ei4dXn0-F1BuTKD4Eb1xoqdoJi1i9PtojmWZ6Kb1-yKGaf6kAomKUJ4ImmEKg9kOz2utaOiT_WZs_iqf-6-lCkXIiPb0vQO7Ldf6BkLBlEBl76icMcvwLLoA/s1600/McCalls+7084+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1058" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXF280WU2Xk_0s6PYgof5Ei4dXn0-F1BuTKD4Eb1xoqdoJi1i9PtojmWZ6Kb1-yKGaf6kAomKUJ4ImmEKg9kOz2utaOiT_WZs_iqf-6-lCkXIiPb0vQO7Ldf6BkLBlEBl76icMcvwLLoA/s640/McCalls+7084+Front.jpg" width="422" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
One of the reasons this took so long to finish is that is that it has around 20 pieces and to top it off I decided to underline this dress. This lovely floral linen was a post-Christmas bargain from John Lewis in Oxford Street, London. It was initially priced around £18 per metre and I managed to snap up 2.5 metres reduced to £5.50 per metre. I underlined the dress with cotton lining from my stash. I didn't have enough blue lining so some patches are purple! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The linen was only 110cm wide and I didn't have enough fabric for the undercollar and placket facing. So there are some contrast blue parts on the dress. At first I wasn't convinced it would work but I had spent so long cutting out the pieces that I persevered and I quite like it now. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I knew that the princess seams (not that you can see them due to the busy print), would give me some play with the fit. I cut a size 14 and the fit is pretty much spot on. There is a tiny bit of pooling in the back which signals the need for a small swayback adjustment. There is also a little bit of excess fabric in the top of the front princess seam, from the bust point to the shoulder, but these are trivial points and I love the overall fit. </div>

I found a great tip from Carolyn from <a href="http://sewingfantaticdiary.blogspot.co.uk/2018/04/dotdotdot-in-chambray.html" target="_blank">Diary of a Sewing Fanatic </a>on button placement to avoid gaping at the bust. I applied it to this dress as it worked perfectly. </div>

I am delighted with this garment. This fills a definite shirtdress gap in my wardrobe. I wore it out this weekend for a picnic in Queen's Park and it was surprisingly comfortable. There is the perfect amount of ease in the dress which sitting not to cause strain on the buttonholes, but still has a flattering fit. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is my 3rd <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2018/02/2018-make-nine.html" target="_blank">#2018MakeNine</a> garment! I made this <a href="https://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/summertime-midi-skirt.html" target="_blank">New Look skirt before</a> and absolutely loved it. However, I feel that I'm not able to make the most of the skirt as the UK Summer is not always warm and dry. I knew that I would want a version that I could wear in colder weather. </div>

I used this floral polyester viscose print purchased from <a href="https://www.fabricland.co.uk/" target="_blank">Fabricland</a>. I picked it up in-store when visiting family in Bristol quite a while ago. I think it was around £3.99-£4.50 per metre. It was easy to work with and sew, but I wonder how it will hold up as it has been washed a few times and I have noticed that it is fading slightly. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The buttons were picked out by my partner in <a href="http://www.simplyfabrics.london/" target="_blank">Simply Fabrics</a>. I had been struggling to find a navy button that I liked, but Alex said why not go for a mustard colour button? They were a bargin at 5p each and blend in so well with the print.</div>

I cut a size 18 - a size up from last time as I wanted some more room to play with french seams. This skirt is unlined, and for this skirt I prefer french seams rather than overlocking the seams. Everything else I kept the same. <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/review/pattern/125659" target="_blank">New Look 6346</a> is a super simple skirt and sews up really quickly. I would recommend it for anyone wanting some instant gratification. </div>

Midi skirts are still so on trend. I really like how they can be made from a floaty fabric but are long enough that there is no danger of a wardrobe mishap on a windy day. I wore this skirt a couple of weekends ago to London Coffee Festival with tights and boots and it worked great. I am really pleased that I can wear this in both the summertime and wintertime. </div>

Pattern Review: Simplicity 8216</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hello, I am back with my 2nd of my <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2018/02/2018-make-nine.html" target="_blank">#2018MakeNine</a> challenge! I have a ready to wear shirt in my wardrobe with a neck tie and it is one of my most worn items. I have been on the lookout for sewing patterns to replicate it and decided to try <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/81286" target="_blank">Simplicity 8216</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRuQAYylGUrnapi0_gs0iXL_42HfsymogWr-GtQlUGPfGY3lVGH6ldv3sTUanARuRPIIdQCE1_hOtz6w3ybWewzyrbYzeSyf6aVgW4pBd8TFUHufpz4ThXziX8tOlLJu5eitq9fwyGNS0/s1600/Simplicity+8126+Front+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRuQAYylGUrnapi0_gs0iXL_42HfsymogWr-GtQlUGPfGY3lVGH6ldv3sTUanARuRPIIdQCE1_hOtz6w3ybWewzyrbYzeSyf6aVgW4pBd8TFUHufpz4ThXziX8tOlLJu5eitq9fwyGNS0/s640/Simplicity+8126+Front+2.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
For this top I chose view D, but with the neck tie and minus the pocket. I cut a size 14 and made no changes except to add an inch onto the length. As mentioned in other reviews there is a pattern drafting error in the neck facing. It is annoying, but you can work round it. It is a shame as it is could easily stump beginner sewers, which is why I wouldn't class this as an 100% easy pattern. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I bought this floral crepe fabric in the January sales in John Lewis for around £5-7 per metre (I can't remember the exact price). I snapped up a whole bunch of fabrics (12 metres in total!) that were on their 3rd price reduction.It was a dream to sew with and has a lovely drape that is perfect for this top. As the fabric is quite light and slightly see-through I finished all of the seams on my overlocker. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You can't see a huge amount of the details as my fabric is black and patterned, but I love the gathers in in the back and also the front shoulders. However, the style is too boxy for me to like wearing it un-tucked. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
In the picture below my hands pretty much obscure the area where the fabric is like a tent from my boobs to my hips. I thought about potentially adding fisheye darts under the bust, but as I was treating this as a wearable muslin I didn't bother.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also love the way it looks tucked it so it's no loss! I finished this top in mid march and I have pretty much worn in weekly since. I can't wait to try the dress version, with the waist elastic it gives the perfect amount of waist definition to stop it looking boxy. </div>

Despite the Beast from East having passed and warmer temperatures now, it has been all rain here in London (hence the indoor photos!). That said, it makes for a great excuse to stay inside and sew! I am hoping to finish my 3rd #2018MakeNine garment this week and have been making progress with a shirt dress too. </div>

Pattern Review: New Look 6456</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This pattern was inspired by the <a href="http://timetosew.uk/introducing-makeyourstash/" target="_blank">#makeyourstash challenge</a>! The aim is to promote sustainable sewing by using fabric that has been in your stash for at least 6 months and is an item that you will enjoy wearing! I have had this lovely piece of cotton in my stash for around 3 years and this challenge finally made me put it to use as a wrap skirt. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWPeIbNOHQqUadQWKADe2l8IZKC895zRpsqA97e8SMoXanY2ZjrGM-qhExGtZkjEfNiFcHHwk2-8iquZUbh4jlQORJDo9hpsRWJprMBoTZ3nXn4BEZ91dUZe2xjVe0M2yOPxH-sFhsgVw/s1600/New+Look+6456+Side+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="620" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWPeIbNOHQqUadQWKADe2l8IZKC895zRpsqA97e8SMoXanY2ZjrGM-qhExGtZkjEfNiFcHHwk2-8iquZUbh4jlQORJDo9hpsRWJprMBoTZ3nXn4BEZ91dUZe2xjVe0M2yOPxH-sFhsgVw/s640/New+Look+6456+Side+Front.jpg" width="248" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I decided to go with <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/79403" target="_blank">New Look 6456</a> which has also been in my stash for a number of years. I think it cost around $8 CAN at the time and I bought 2 yards. It is quite a light cotton so I lined it with some polyester lining from my stash.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Despite having sewed a number of wrap dresses this was my first wrap skirt. I cut the knee length skirt and a size 14. I sewed it up straight out of the envelope. This is a super simple skirt and would suit a beginner and be a great way to try out sewing a buttonhole. </div>

When I first finished this skirt I was slightly unsure about the style and thought that I would have preferred a skirt that was more pencil shaped and less flared. However, I wore this out on Easter Monday (despite the pouring rain) with some tights and boots and I completely changed my mind. </div>

I would definitely make this skirt again as it really lets the fabric shine. My only change would be to increase the width of the front skirt pieces. They are fine as they are, but when sitting down I would prefer a bit more coverage. </div>

I am so pleased that this fabric has been used up from my huge stash and is now a pretty skirt! The bad weather wasn't great for being outdoors, but it was great for sewing. I cut out a skirt and sewed up a decent amount of a shirt dress both from my <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2018/02/2018-make-nine.html" target="_blank">#2018MakeNine list.</a> </div>

Alongside sewing I saw a couple of exhibitions including the Ocean Liners: Speed and Style at the Victoria & Albert museum. It was a fab exhibit and worth catching if you are in London any time soon! Here is a photo that my partner snapped:</div>

Pattern Review: New Look 6301</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Welcome to the first make from my <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2018/02/2018-make-nine.html" target="_blank">#2018MakeNine challenge!</a> I wear a wrap dress at least once per week as part of my work wardrobe and knew that I wanted another one in the rotation. <span style="text-align: justify;">I sewed this one up exactly the same as my previous version </span><a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2018/01/filling-out-my-work-wardrobe.html" style="text-align: justify;" target="_blank">here</a><span style="text-align: justify;">. A size 14 overall, with size 18 on the top of the bodice for modesty and I took 1" out of the centre back. I took 2" off the skirt length so it hit above the knee. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb3Ey6ssK8_L-J59e0JRZt0NzIi35Mq31DDSjPoZEwOuv6wbV9RSP_aTshVPOb6Mfr18oL2np5EhyNYRrBylMEIGKd_A1wSWOFAcucpquwsJ8M0Sd05coRetjCTChxNuqaWm_aQ6o5U9A/s1600/NewLook6301NYC+-+Side+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1528" data-original-width="1118" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb3Ey6ssK8_L-J59e0JRZt0NzIi35Mq31DDSjPoZEwOuv6wbV9RSP_aTshVPOb6Mfr18oL2np5EhyNYRrBylMEIGKd_A1wSWOFAcucpquwsJ8M0Sd05coRetjCTChxNuqaWm_aQ6o5U9A/s640/NewLook6301NYC+-+Side+Front.jpg" width="468" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The fabric is an ITY knit that I bought in NYC, Brooklyn in Belmont Avenue during my holiday laast year. The fabric was $4 per yard and I bought 2! I knew as soon as I saw this print that it would be a perfect work dress and version of <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/67798" target="_blank">New Look 6301.</a> It washed and sewed up beautifully.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggfmhdGwTwDlnmR5HWS2GxvBFvJeFQ0n1F49sIH8HfrNiMd9HMp1oq04LeJKkV-zmTmsY3XnyRCrlGI1FpVmH3Axl6vF3s4R6queBsUpsnPr0MtdlkVvV-HWArXc3JG1F1OQDBZRcXOmg/s1600/NewLook6301NYC+-+Side+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1571" data-original-width="1162" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggfmhdGwTwDlnmR5HWS2GxvBFvJeFQ0n1F49sIH8HfrNiMd9HMp1oq04LeJKkV-zmTmsY3XnyRCrlGI1FpVmH3Axl6vF3s4R6queBsUpsnPr0MtdlkVvV-HWArXc3JG1F1OQDBZRcXOmg/s640/NewLook6301NYC+-+Side+Back.jpg" width="472" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I really don't have anything to add that I haven't covered in my previous reviews. However I will say that the #2018MakeNine challenge has really made me more reflective about my wardrobe needs. As someone who wears so many dresses I knew that a capsule wardrobe wouldn't be relevant. Nevertheless, the types of dresses that I wear and what I wear them for (e.g. for work, weekends, celebrations etc) is important. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx8vK2I47XsppkkUPBXFc_IRHnrZ67teoAMFeqRLZnw1fy3-4vqd6GQS_mXdhrEEzxZHZsW8pEYeSEgJHzkptFyfQ3InlaAcPvRVIX1ciZ-F0ptTXKHOaAwYZMaIsl8lZ5olx7gxAaEMQ/s1600/NewLook6301NYC+-+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1586" data-original-width="1186" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx8vK2I47XsppkkUPBXFc_IRHnrZ67teoAMFeqRLZnw1fy3-4vqd6GQS_mXdhrEEzxZHZsW8pEYeSEgJHzkptFyfQ3InlaAcPvRVIX1ciZ-F0ptTXKHOaAwYZMaIsl8lZ5olx7gxAaEMQ/s640/NewLook6301NYC+-+Back.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I am much more sociable directly after work and I am likely to meet friends mid week for dinner, go to the theatre, a concert etc, that my work wardrobe is pretty much my actual wardrobe. The weather in London is never really too extreme (last couple of weeks excluded!) so I don't need winter dresses as such. A dress that is not too short, doesn't expose too much flesh and I can wear with flats is perfect for work in the summer. If at the same time it can be worn with tights and boots in the winter it is a pure win for me! </div>

This dress fits my work/life/seasons balance perfectly and my hope for the rest of my 2018 sewing is that it mostly follows (we all know there are sewing exceptions) this same principle. Let's see how it goes!</div>

Sewing Plans: 2018 Make Nine Challenge</h2>
I came across the <a href="https://luckylucille.com/2017/12/2018-make-nine/" target="_blank">#2018MakeNine challenge</a> and decided that it would be a great way to plan my 2018 sewing. I mulled over the 9 questions and came up with this list! The best thing is that 8 of the patterns are already in my stash!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYkqaEumWExgT-4qs5v0gKrl-IXfCmQOg2qlRuk2Q50S0BqjfOyee8YnwsZrl2535bNIX-AZ80_xID_IVgS8T2qnMSIFk0pqTbTTyJzxDEIhmdwYlWhZG83OzEWe7cLERPDxRG7tfjYXM/s1600/simplicity-tops-vests-pattern-8216-envelope-front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="502" data-original-width="502" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYkqaEumWExgT-4qs5v0gKrl-IXfCmQOg2qlRuk2Q50S0BqjfOyee8YnwsZrl2535bNIX-AZ80_xID_IVgS8T2qnMSIFk0pqTbTTyJzxDEIhmdwYlWhZG83OzEWe7cLERPDxRG7tfjYXM/s400/simplicity-tops-vests-pattern-8216-envelope-front.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/81286" target="_blank">Simplicity 8216</a>: This is to fit my sewing gap of smart tops to wear out with jeans. This top is very similar to a RTW top that I wear all the time. The dress version is really cute too and would be a great addition to the work wardrobe. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/53077" target="_blank">Butterick 5744</a>: I have made this dress twice <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/im-back.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/an-almost-wadder-butterick-5744.html" target="_blank">here</a>. <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/69501" target="_blank">McCalls 7084:</a> This is another item that has been on my list for a few years. The reason I have never gotten round to making this was during ensuring I have enough fabric, buttons etc. I recently bought some floral linen that would suit view A. For march on my To Do List is to make sure I buy some buttons and lining so I can make this dress in time for spring/summer. </div>

<a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/70968" target="_blank">New Look 6346</a>: I absolutely adore <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/summertime-midi-skirt.html" target="_blank">this version that I made previously</a>. I would love to make another version in a fabric that would look good in the winter with tights and boots and in summer shoes. The length would also make it work appropriate. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/65604" target="_blank">Simplicity 1370</a>: I have added this to the list as I have a couple of remnants that I know would work well in a simple mini. Putting this on the 2018 Make Nine list gives me an incentive to make up at least one of them! :-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
There isn't anything hugely groundbreaking in this list. When I assessed my wardrobe for 2017 I realised that I was lacking in some more pieces to add to the wardrobe rotation. As I wear so many dresses I don't think about having a capsule wardrobe as such. I would like some more TNT top patterns to be in this list, but I am super fussy about what I like so I am not holding my breath. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Anyone else taking part in the #2018MakeNine challenge? Or re-assessing their wardrobe needs?</div>

Pattern Review: Vogue 8667</h2>
<div>
Behold another TNT pattern - <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/41376" target="_blank">Vogue 8667</a>. I cut this dress out back in November 2017 but didn't get round to finishing it until January 2018, during some time off between starting my new job. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is the <a href="http://tashsews.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=Vogue+8667" target="_blank">4th time</a> I have made this dress! I have always known that I would like to add a wool version to my work wardrobe. The fabric is a wool polyester blend purchased from Classic Textiles on Goldhawk Road, priced at £8 per metre. It has been in my stash for at least two and a half years. It was easy to sew with and I still have a decent sized remnant leftover :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBErh-ZdeWu8_5vKa3kda-8kvWwJFebDbIaF1ol9RgWr-HANxrN1WGS5RVp000GxuuLGBH8ZrxGRpmuDti1HganvTDxqKiP4ijSXHCqnsLCa7-KECAEf6wJgz0YfFpLbx29I-QzzGCyqg/s1600/Vogue+8667+Wool+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1541" data-original-width="1124" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBErh-ZdeWu8_5vKa3kda-8kvWwJFebDbIaF1ol9RgWr-HANxrN1WGS5RVp000GxuuLGBH8ZrxGRpmuDti1HganvTDxqKiP4ijSXHCqnsLCa7-KECAEf6wJgz0YfFpLbx29I-QzzGCyqg/s640/Vogue+8667+Wool+Back.jpg" width="466" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I don't have too much to add to my previous reviews. I cut a size 14 for the bodice and used my self drafted A-line skirt instead of the pleated version and I fully lined the dress with some black lining from my stash. I was glad to get this dress finished and off my dressmakers dummy. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This dress is perfect for the colder weather that we are still experiencing here in London. It will be perfect with winter tights, boots and cardigan - despite the indoor picture below!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have one more TNT pattern review to share this month and then I promise I will be sewing something new! It has been great filling some gaps in my wardrobe with TNT patterns, but I am excited to try out some different patterns and use up some new additions to my fabric stash. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Happy sewing!</div>
